Our purpose
Paintwise provides free planning tools and plain-language guides for people painting a room, a home exterior or a small renovation project. We focus on the practical questions that arise before buying paint: what needs measuring, how coats change quantity, when primer is useful and what conditions affect drying.
Editorial standards
Our guides explain general decorating principles and make their limits clear. We distinguish a planning estimate from product-specific instructions. Content is reviewed when calculator assumptions or guidance change, and pages should be updated when a material change is made. We do not publish supplier claims as fact without identifying them as product-specific.
How we fund Paintwise
Paintwise may show advertising or link to relevant suppliers. Advertising does not change calculator results or editorial recommendations. A featured supplier does not replace the need to compare a product’s technical data sheet, safety information and price.
